Medi-aid centre foundation (medi-aid) is a pbi (public benevolent institution) a non-profit charity incorporated in 1973, by dr john f knight am and wife noreen V knight, at eastwood, a registered nurse. In all about 800 persons are cared for. Of these, about 30 per cent assist in funding called 'resident funding housing'. Its mission is provision of accommodation for the elderly, have no family support, but with emphasis on those who are frail, across all socio-economic levels, no home and do not have back up funds from other sources. For them, there is no ongoing fee they pay a ashamed weekly rental which is about 50 per cent of the normal commercial rental for a similar unit. All the residents (we call them delegates) are the flimsy elderly and on the low rental scheme. Majority is lovely people. medicaid has maintained a successive building programmed for nearly thirty years. It must operate lower a variety of government Acts and regulations. However, it neither seeks nor receives any government funding, preferring to operate outside of the government system. A Committee is the legal operative entities, all members of which has a Christian background, and serve in an honorary capacity. These services are popular and provide on site social and spiritual interaction. A Community center is available, where residents may enjoy a variety of entertainment, BBQ, and other activities. A short effortless walk takes you into the main shopping center, which provides maximum needs. It is all brick and tiled building with ramps, paved walkways and external lighting. The government Rental Assistance is available to most residents (via Centrelink). The business and general affairs of the Company are under the management of the Committee.
